Sea going King salmon or Chinooks have a bluish green color on their backs. Their gums are black and they have black markings on their backs as well. Spawning king salmon are red in color. Silver salmon or coho just as their name indicates are silver in color with black markings on their backs as well. These are known to be fighting fish and can put up quite a fight when being reeled in.

The first thing that you will need to know is the fishing limit for each type of fish. Different areas have different limits for specific fish varieties.
It is only normal that you will want to keep the salmon that you catch. In order to do this, you will need to purchase a salmon conservation stamp. A salmon conservation stamp will allow you to keep your salmon trophy. Be reminded though that there is a limit which is usually four for non tidal areas.
